Do you recognise any of these faces from the past in Watford Market?
Michael Chase posted these evocative pictures to the Watford Observer's new nostalgia group, We grew up in Watford, and they have proved popular with group members.
Paul Robnett remarked: "Some great photos and some great characters. Loved that you took the photos in black and white, adds real atmosphere."
Do you have any memories or pictures from the market you'd like to share?
The history of the market dates back to the 12th Century when the Abbot of St Albans was granted a charter to hold a weekly market in the town, the website ourwatfordhistory.org states.
It was held in the market place, the area next to St Mary's Church, until 1928 when it moved into what became Charter Place.
It moved into its current location near the flyover in 2014.
