Much of the 1970s doesn't hold particularly fond memories for Watford fans. Two relegations and other struggles threatened to make the decade one to forget, but then the arrival of a rock star and a young manager from Lincoln City led to the start of a remarkable journey and a host of wonderful moments to look back on.
With thanks again to the Watford Treasury for looking through the archives, we are pleased to follow up our three-week look back at the 1980s with some more pictures from the previous decade.
Elton John features in this first batch, as does one of his famous showbiz friends, but scroll down this page and enjoy seeing some of the fondly remembered Watford players from that era.

Yellow Black & Red! is a new monthly publication from The Watford Treasury.
Lighter in tone, it's a look at our love of Watford from a more personal perspective than found within its 'bigger brother'. As one would expect from The Watford Treasury, it is rich in imagery and features some fantastic writing.
Available from the Hornets Shop, Watford Museum or mail order (post free) YBR! is priced at just £3 and is sure to interest any Watford supporter.
