TEN YEARS AGO
Brilliant Watford hit Millwall for six
Watford rewrote the record books in south London after producing one of their most memorable and clinical away performances for years to rise into the top six of the Championship with a magnificent 6-1 demolition of Millwall.
The Lions had come into the game defending a 21-match unbeaten home record dating back to November last year, but Kenny Jackett was forced to look on as the club where he made his name emphatically and ruthlessly scored the most goals in a game away from home since the infamous 7-4 victory at Burnley in 2003.
Furthermore, the five-goal winning margin is believed to have equalled the Hornets’ biggest on their travels.
Decision on £29 million academy redevelopment tomorrow night
A planning committee will decide whether to grant permission for a £29 million redevelopment of The Bushey Academy.
The Bushey and Aldenham planning committee will assess whether developers can build on the conservation area, before the plans are assessed by Hertfordshire County Council's development control committee on Tuesday.
Under the plans, the former Bushey Hall School, on the corner of High Street and Falconer Road, would be transformed into state-of-the-art class rooms with capacity for 1,350 students.
Sell-out festival marks farm's 50th anniversary
A charity music festival to mark the 50th anniversary of a farm in Radlett was "a sell-out success", say organisers.
More than 1,000 people flocked to Battlers Green Farm, Common Lane, for the Music On The Farm event.
The show, which included a variety of live bands and West End performers, raised money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Macmillan Cancer Care.
There was also a champagne bar, food stalls, and dodgems. And the festivities continued into the night with a disco in a barn.
FIVE YEARS AGO
Seven-storey building could be included in South Oxhey regeneration scheme
A seven-storey building, a supermarket and two new roads could be part of the long-awaited mass regeneration scheme in South Oxhey.
Politicians in South Oxhey were given a presentation on the latest plans for the South Oxhey Initiative at a meeting tonight.
The demolition and re-building of the shopping precinct will see in excess of 400 new homes created, as well as 30 shopping units.
However, the council officer in charge of the project could not confirm how many shops that would result in – but there will be less shops in total.
Players who aren't up for the fight can't be around unfortunately, says Deeney
Troy Deeney says it wasn’t nice to see the likes of Matej Vydra and Fernando Forestieri leave Watford but accepts any player who is unwilling to adapt to Quique Sanchez Flores’ tactical structure “can’t be around unfortunately”.
Flores has favoured a 4-2-3-1 formation since his arrival at Vicarage Road this summer, although he has slightly deviated from that structure in the past two matches.
The Spaniard’s preferred system meant first-team opportunities for Vydra and Forestieri were virtually non-existent. Their only outing came against Preston North End in the Capital One Cup.
The duo didn’t play a single minute of Premier League action before Forestieri was sold to Sheffield Wednesday and Vydra joined Reading on a season-long loan deal on transfer deadline day.
Their departures were understandably met with mixed emotions by the majority of Watford supporters.
Flores has stated Vydra did not adapt to his style of football before joining Reading and Deeney admits there can be no room for sentiment as the Golden Boys’ bid to establish themselves in the top flight.
“A few players have left, particularly fans’ favourites like Matty Vydra and Fernando,” Deeney told talkSPORT. “But that is part and parcel of football.
“If they don’t get the philosophy of the gaffer and what he wants they have to move on. We have brought new lads in and they seem to get what he wants.
“He is pushing everybody every day. If you are not up for the fight then you can’t be around unfortunately."
Watford producer Naughty Boy teases fans with clip of new single featuring Beyoncé
Watford's Naughty Boy has teased fans with a Twitter announcement about his new single, featuring Beyoncé.
The producer, whose real name is Shahid Khan, tweeted a 15-second snippet of the new track, titled Lose It All, along with album art, lyrics and a countdown to its release.
The video clip shows a man and a woman floating in an ocean, holding their knees to their chests and features soulful sounds from the Grammy Award-winning singer.
Since the producer tweeted the excerpt, it has been retweeted more than 1,500 times and has sparked much excitement across social media.
