A primary school has announced its new head teacher.

Cherry Tree Primary School located in Berry Avenue, Watford has welcomed its new head teacher, Miss Cheska Tyler.

Miss Tyler, who joined at the start of the term was previously an assistant head teacher at Newington Green Primary School in Islington.

Her appointment followed the retirement of the former head teacher Miss Jessie Bruce who worked at the school for 22 years.

Miss Tyler has taught in primary schools in London for the past seven years. She said she is keen to develop her passion for outdoor learning along with physical and mental wellbeing into every aspect of school life at Cherry Tree.

She added: "I want the children of Cherry Tree to be inspired every day.

"It is our job to ensure we provide an engaging, happy and rich learning enviornment where their experiences are endless and the children are set up for what they will go on to achieve beyond their primary education."

Miss Tyler explained that the school's curriculum has also changed to become more collaborative between staff and parents.

She added: "The relationship between school and home is vital. I am committed to ensuring that our parents are aware of their child's learning journey, how they can help and to also make them feel welcome as part of our school community."
