A teenager has died following a collision in Warley.

A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries after a black Ford Kuga and a Mercedes collided on Hartswood Road at 2.30pm on Saturday, September 19.

The boy, who was a pedestrian, died of his injuries on Thursday (September 24).

Inspector Mark Fraser said: "First and foremost, my thoughts and condolences go to the family and friends of the young man, who very sadly died.

"I would like to again thank those who assisted at the scene following the collision and for everyone who has come forward to help us with our enquiries.

"Please can I urge anyone who has information about the incident and is yet to contact us, to please get in contact us either by calling 101 or emailing CollisionAppeal@essex.pnn.police.uk.

"When providing any information pleased reference incident 648 of 19 Sept."

Jack Madel, 28, of no fixed address, has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by driving while disqualified, failing to stop after an accident, and driving without insurance.

"We will be working alongside our colleagues at the Crown Prosecution Service to amend the charges accordingly" added Inspector Fraser.

A second man, a 27-year-old man from Billericay, has been arrested in connection with the collision and remains in hospital with serious injuries.
