We’re all in this together. That was the mantra for the nationwide lockdown for the first wave of the epidemic. Not so for the second wave.
A combination of Covid-19 and administration directives have divided England into many areas. Another nationwide lockdown may result in unity of purpose. The hospitality industry would suffer at least initially but could eventually recover. University students could be sent home when testing negative and an extra hour added on to daily school time.
Any lockdown must be purgatory for young folk used to going out to enjoy themselves but we all have crosses to bear. Although as an OAP it is probably easier to recommend it, a full lockdown now may save lives.
