A man has been charged with child abduction after a seven-year-old girl was grabbed on the street whilst walking besides her mother.
Met Police detectives released an appeal earlier in the week for witnesses after the stranger carried the child around 100 metres before dropping her on Mary Datchelor Close in Camberwell on Thursday, October 22.
Police now say they have arrested Clifford Daley from Southwark and charged him with child abduction and possession of cannabis.
The 33-year-old will appear in custody at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 26 October.
Police said the alleged abduction attempt took place around 5pm in Camberwell, with the suspect then fleeing on foot.
The girl was not physically injured in the incident.
