A fundraiser has been set up after a 21-year-old woman was tragically killed in a hit and run, according to a new GoFundMe page.

Police confirmed today (October 26) the driver failed to stop at the scene of the crash, but was later arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

The fundraiser comes after the victim, named as Rhiannon Hall, was involved in a collision with a car on London Road, near the junction of Garth Road on October 16.

London Ambulance Service raced to the scene and took Rhiannon to a south London hospital shortly after 10 pm.

Fundraising organiser, Jackie Smithers wrote on GoFundMe:

"Rhiannon, only 21-years-old, mother of two beautiful girls and partner, was having a rare night out with some friends when the horrific incident took place.

The impact of this hit and run left Rhiannon with life-threatening injuries. She spent six nights in a very critical condition in the intensive care unit of St George’s hospital.

"Unfortunately, after surgery and many tests, the medical team explained to her mum and partner that it was only the machines keeping her here."

According to the fundraising page, Rhiannon's machine was turned off on October 22.

Jackie added: "Rhiannon absolutely adored her family and was a wonderful mother to her girls.

This incident has turned Rhiannon’s family upside down, they are in a living nightmare.

"Her friends, some who were witness to this dreadful event are in absolute shock that this has happened.

"We are starting up this page to try and raise some money to ease some of the financial burden that will come with this sad time.

"We are hoping to raise some money for Rhiannon's two little girls who now face a future without their mummy."

Donations reached £6,569 out of the targeted £7,000 at the time of publishing.
