A ZOO has urged the general public to keep pledging their support during the fire-break.

A half price entry offer was in place at the Welsh Mountain Zoo for Conwy residents over half term but this has been a halted as the attraction is now closed to visitors.

Jen Jesse, director of operations and administration at the zoo, said: “Whilst we understand the need for a fire-break in Wales to help flatten the curve of Covid-19, this will inevitably have a massive impact on the zoo in terms of revenue. We are still attempting to manage the black hole left from the original extended lockdown and this latest development will undoubtedly serve to further exacerbate this situation.

“Although the Zoo will be closed, our dedicated and hardworking team will provide the best care for our amazing animals, as they always do.

"However, the Winter months are inevitably more challenging for us as a largely outdoor attraction and this will, without doubt, intensify these pressures."
