Watford Borough Council is calling for residents to nominate two local parks for this year’s People’s Choice Park award.

Both Cassiobury Park and Oxhey Park could win the Green Flag Award scheme that celebrates the best and most beautiful green spaces across the UK.

Twelve of Watford’s parks and open spaces have already been recognised by the Green Flag Award Scheme as some of the very best in the country, which is the highest number in Hertfordshire.

All of Watford’s parks are managed in partnership with Veolia, with help from an army of volunteers who give their time to ensure our green spaces are clean, green, safe and welcoming.

Peter Taylor, Elected Mayor of Watford said: “Having 12 Green Flag Award winning parks in our town is great achievement. It is testament to the hard work of local volunteers, Veolia and the Council. Please vote for your favourite park so that it can get the recognition it deserves. Wouldn’t it be great to see Cassiobury Park or Oxhey Park voted the nation’s favourite park?”

There are twelve sites to choose from in Watford, including: Cassiobury Park, Paddock Road Allotments, Oxhey Park, Harwoods Recreation Ground, Waterfields Recreation Ground, St Marys Churchyard, Callowland Recreation Ground, Cheslyn House & Gardens, North Watford Playing Fields, Goodwood Recreation Ground, North Watford Cemetery and Woodside Playing Fields.

Paul Todd, International Green Flag Award Manager said, “This year we have all seen the importance of our precious parks and green spaces. The People’s Choice Award is an opportunity to show how much your favourite park means to you. Make your voice heard and vote now.”
