A SCHOOLBOY has launched his own business delivering treats to other children during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Kayden Frampton from Eastbourne decided to set up an online shop for sweets and toys after he was having to queue up for long periods at supermarkets and some shops closed during lockdown.

The ten-year-old said: “I noticed our shops had closed where I used to buy my toys from and it was really dangerous because of coronavirus to keep going to shops after school to get my sweets.

“It took ages to line up to get them and it left me with no play time before my dinner time just to get my treats after school.

The Argus:

“So I decided with my family to create my own business where I can still give children the chance to get those reward treats or pocket money toys.”

Kayden was also inspired by his mum Claire, who runs a social enterprise called Reloved Eastbourne, selling unwanted stock from charity shops online to reduce waste and raise money for good causes.

With the help of his dad Christopher, Kayden set up his own website for Kayden’s Treats, which now has 500 products available, from children’s books to party supplies.

Christopher, 29, said: “We used to sell sweets through our charity shop site, so Kayden decided to take these products and build his own little shop. A lot of the other products are from Amazon.

“I couldn’t believe it, he’s blown me away.

“The minute he comes out of school he’s checking for messages.

“It’s a laugh and a giggle too.”

Christopher has been helping Kayden send out orders by post and the pair have also done some deliveries themselves.

The Argus:

He said: “Kayden goes to greet people within the social distancing guidelines. People know him now when he walks down the street.”

“It’s really grown - he’s already got around 320 followers on the shop’s Instagram.”

Kayden said one of his friends who could not have a birthday party due to lockdown rules was able to buy party bags through his shop to send out to friends instead, “like a party bag surprise in the post”.

He said: “It was amazing to know and see that my toys and sweets that I was selling was making other kids happy.”

Kayden is fundraising for a new trolley and a card reader, as well as other supplies for his business. To donate, visit his GoFundMe page.
