Seven vehicles were involved in a major crash on a motorway this morning, police have said.
Two cars involved had also caught fire, Hertfordshire Constabulary said.
The force says it was called at 8.07am this morning to a multi-vehicle road traffic collision on the M1 southbound at Watford.
Seven vehicles were reported to be involved, police said.
Officers, the fire service and East of England Ambulance Service attended.
The fire service put out two car fires, police said.
Minor injuries were reported.
The road was closed in both directions while emergency services worked at the scene.
The northbound carriageway was re-opened around 8.40am.
The southbound carriageway remains closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
