Police have charged a man in connection with two break-ins in Watford.

On Monday (November 30), two homes in Grosvenor Road in the town centre were broken into.

A laptop was stolen from one of the properties.

Police received a call after a member of the public reported seeing someone acting suspiciously in the area the burglary took place.

Officers attended and located a suspect as well as a laptop.

The suspect was taken into custody.

Detective Constable George Lewin, from the Watford local crime unit, said: "The credit for this swift result lays firmly with the intervention officers, whose quick and decisive response will reunite a victim of crime with their belongings. We will now wait as the case progresses."

  • Lemuel Browne, 61, of Rickmansworth Road, Watford, has been charged with one count of burglary and one count of attempted burglary. He has been remanded in custody ahead of his appearance at Hatfield Remand Court today (December 2).
