The Watford Observer has teamed up with Watford Museum and its curator Sarah Priestley to take a journey back to the town’s past through items or places of historical significance.

The 15th item in ‘a history of Watford in 50 objects’ is a favourite feature for many visitors to Watford Museum and a reminder of our rich heritage of pubs and inns in Watford.

The bar was originally installed at The Pennant public house by Watford Junction, what is now O’Neill's. The pub was originally a railway hotel and gained the name The Pennant from the logo for Benskin's Brewery.

Sarah said: "As well as being evocative of a traditional bar and displaying a range of our wonderful local breweriana, the museum uses the bar for our tearooms and events.

"Of course at the moment it’s very challenging times for our local pubs and sadly our bar has to stay shut for the time being. But in the meantime we’re delighted to be able to welcome visitors back to the museum."

Watford Museum has had to close its doors under Tier 3 restrictions but you can still pay it a virtual visit at the website at www.watfordmuseum.org.uk or find the museum on Facebook and Instagram @watfordmuseum
