KIND-HEARTED carers in Colchester have been given a festive boost as a carers charity spreads Christmas cheer.

Carers First is a charity which supports unpaid carers and has been delivering festive treats to carers in the town.

This week, the charity have been visiting carers in the Shrub End and Berechurch.

With support from local Councillor Dave Harris, they've been able to offer carers tasty festive treats which were put together by Maggie, Jenny and the team at The Art Café in West Mersea.

Cari Hook from Carers First said: “It has been a tough year so it’s lovely to be able to give carers a treat when so many of them have missed out on the usual activities and groups that we would have ordinarily organised at this time of year.

"At Carers First, we understand that caring for someone can be hard but with the right help and support life can be easier and more enjoyable.

"If you, or someone you know has a caring responsibility and you need support or advice, we are only ever a phone call or email away”.

Councillor Dave Harris added: "Carers are all too often forgotten. The work they do looking after others is quietly done without fuss, but with the utmost care and dedication – a really selfless act.

"It is great to be able to support carers in my area with a small gesture, acknowledging the high appreciation and respect they deserve.

"Thank you to Carers First for working on this project."
