THIS unearthed footage captures Basingstoke train station in the 1960’s.

The minute-long video was shot in early October 1966 where you can see a number of trains headed by Rebuilt Light Pacifics.

Starting with the former 213 Squadron, number 34088, which is seen on an up train on the up local line.

Another up train then calls at the up fast platform behind 34044 a Woolacombe, which still sports its nameplates, as does the third engine, 34009 Lyme Regis which makes a classic slippery start from the down local platform.

The nostalgic footage shows just how much Basingstoke train station has changed over the years.
