Dozens of homes still appear to be affected by a power cut with engineers still working to restore power.

An electricity outage was reported on the Cassiobury estate in Watford, as well as in parts of Hempstead Road towards Langleybury.

The power went off in some homes at 10.20am with UK Power Networks (UKPN) receiving a number of calls from residents.

As of 6pm, problems are still being reported on the Cassiobury estate with another issue reported nearby in the town.

A statement on UKPN's website for the Cassiobury area says: "A fault occurred on a piece of our electrical equipment which controls the power to your home.

"We're sorry for any disruption this may be causing you. We estimate the power will be back on between 8pm and 9pm. We may be able to get some customers on sooner."

A power cut has also been reported by UKPN in the Clarendon Road area of Watford.

The company expects power to be restored to all affected homes and businesses by 7pm.

The lack of power for homes in Watford will be frustrating, particularly with reliance on working and learning from home.
