Watford were heading back to the top table of English football and six years ago today thousands of Hornets fans flocked to Cassiobury Park to celebration promotion to the Premier League.

Slavisa Jokanovic's side had beaten Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 to seal the club's return to the top flight after an eight-year absence and the town turned out to party in Cassiobury Park.

Two open-top buses were organised for Watford players and staff, who boarded at Asda before making their way along St Albans Road to Cassiobury Park where an estimated 20,000 supporters were waiting to celebrate with them.

The triumphant Hornets squad then gathered on the stage where head coach Jokanovic and captain Troy Deeney made brief speeches to the fans.

Jokanovic said: "It has been a nice afternoon for us. I am very happy because we had the chance to be with our fans and I believe they are enjoying this moment with us.

"We really enjoyed their support in the games and today was a chance to be with them.
