A LITTLE schoolgirl with a big heart braved the big chop last week - cutting off nine inches of her hair to help other children.

On Monday, May 3, Poppy Taylor from Charter Alley, Tadley, donated lots of her lockdown locks to The Little Princess Trust - a charity which makes wigs for children and young people suffering hair loss as a result of illness.

Poppy's mum, Emily, told the Gazette: "Poppy has known about The Little Princess Trust for a while now. Since Covid hit, over a year ago, her usually neat hair became a crazy mane and she decided to keep growing it, knowing that she wanted to donate it eventually.

"She was so pleased with the nine inches that we managed to send off."

Poppy is no stranger to charitable challenges, as this donation comes one year after she completed a sponsored silence, raising £320 for the care home that her Great Granda lived in before he sadly passed away.

Emily added: "Poppy is already thinking about what her next challenge might be.

"Me, her daddy and her two little sisters are so proud of her. She has the biggest heart of anyone I know."
