A LIVE power cable collapsed, blocking a path during wet weather.
Sussex Police were called to the incident off Cuckfield Road in Hassocks yesterday evening at about 7pm after members of the public raised the alarm.
Inspector Darren Taylor said: "People were calling us to say a big power cable had fallen down, and of course it was live.
"The weather obviously did not help. It's quite shocking.
"Officers guarded the area until our colleagues at Power Networks arrived within the hour and were able to deal with it.
