A COASTGUARD helicopter was paged as part of a large emergency response to an incident.
HM Coastguard said rescue teams from Newhaven and Birling Gap attended the scene near Eastbourne yesterday morning, and a helicopter was also sent from Lydd in Kent.
Eastbourne RNLI launched a lifeboat at 10am, and Sussex Police and the ambulance service also attended.
Details of the incident and the exact location have not been confirmed by the Coastguard or the RNLI.
Sussex Police have been contacted for a statement.
