A motorist who was driving a vehicle containing dangerous goods decided to take a rest break on the hard shoulder of the M25 near Watford.

Officers spotted the Hazchem HGV parked on the hard shoulder of the motorway between Junction 18-19 on Wednesday.

Police found the driver had been taking a break and issued a ticket.

The Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire road policing unit said the HGV was 200 yards from a junction where the driver could have taken a safe rest break.

The force shared the incident in a twitter post.

It said: “M25 18-19. The hard shoulder is NOT the place to take your rest break, even worse when it's a Haz Chem vehicle! Ticket issued.”
