Two police officers were assaulted after responding to reports of trouble in Watford town centre.

It happened in the early hours of Sunday November 14 near the Twisted Monkey bar in the High Street.

Police say they were attempting to detain a man at around 1.50am in connection with the disorder when a woman approached the officers and reportedly assaulted them.

Hertfordshire Constabulary says the officers were not seriously injured.

A 22-year-old woman from Harrow was arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of assaulting an emergency workers. She has since been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

As part of their investigation into what happened, police have launched an appeal for witnesses.

Detective Constable Adam Bates said: "The High Street would have been fairly busy at this time, and we believed that several people may have witnessed the incident taking place or captured footage on their mobile phones.

"If you did witness the assault taking place, or have any information that you think could assist with our enquiries, please get in touch. Any information, even something that may seem insignificant, could be key to progressing our investigation."
