Police have issued a warning after spotting a motorist trying to get back onto the M25 at the last minute when they realised they were in the wrong lane.
The driver was trying to rejoin the motorway at Junction 20 (Watford/Hemel Hempstead) after realising they were in the lane that would take them off the motorway.
But they did this just before the motorway exit and crossed over the verge twice.
The driver pulled the manoeuvre in front of a police car which had recorded the incident.
M25 J.20. If you miss your turning, please do the sensible move and exit then rejoin. Don't do what this driver did and apologising for crossing the verge (twice) will not get you out of a ticket. 410208. pic.twitter.com/AbVplOGRPP

In a tweet on Sunday, November 21, the Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire road policing unit have urged drivers to be “sensible” in such situations.
It said: “If you miss your turning, please do the sensible move and exit then rejoin. Don't do what this driver did and apologising for crossing the verge (twice) will not get you out of a ticket.”
