A teenager was left with serious injuries after being stabbed in an underpass in Watford.

The victim, 19, had been in the underpass off St Albans Road – which runs alongside part of Essex Road - when he was attacked on Wednesday, October 13 between 2pm and 2.30pm.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said the young man was approached by three males who proceeded to stab him, leaving him with serious injuries that required hospital treatment.

Police have charged a 17-year-old boy from Watford following the incident.

He has been charged with:

  • Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent (Section 18)
  • Attempted robbery
  • Possession of an offensive weapon

He has been remanded in custody and has since pleaded not guilty to all charges.

A provisional trial date has been set for Monday 20 December at St Albans Crown Court.

Detective Constable Vishal Khanna, from the Watford Local Crime Unit, said: “We have carried out a number of enquiries since this assault and we are pleased to have secured a charge and remand.

“However our investigation is still continuing and we are appealing to the public to share any information they have with us.

“Were you in the vicinity of the underpass at the time of the incident on 13 October? Did you see any suspicious activity?

“I am also interested to know if anyone driving in the area between the times stated, particularly in St Albans Road near the roundabout, St Johns Road, Frankland Road, Wellington Road, Westland Road, Essex Road or Malden Road, has captured anything of significance on their dash cams.

“If you have any information then please contact us as soon as possible.”
