A district council has criticised anti-social behaviour after reports of another fire at a play area.

Police were called to reports of anti-social behaviour at the play area in Oulton Way, Carpenders Park, last Wednesday (January 19) at 4.33pm.

It was reported that a fire had just been extinguished by the fire and rescue service and the caller was concerned about continued anti-social behaviour in the park.

In June last year, officers were also called to help the fire service after a group of 13 to 16-year-olds lit a fire in the same area.

Following the latest incident, the local Safer Neighbourhood Team is working with Three Rivers District Council and a survey is being conducted so that appropriate action can be taken.

A spokesperson from Three Rivers said: “All children enjoy going to the park. Please help to keep them safe for them to enjoy.

“It is disappointing that some people are choosing to visit the parks for a different reason and to act in an anti-social manner.”

The spokesperson continued: “Not only is it incredibly dangerous, it’s time consuming for our emergency services and also damages the area that local children / families use.”

Anyone with concerns of anti-social behaviour is asked to call the non-emergency number 101.
