Detectives are investigating two separate stabbings in Hertfordshire towns that occurred within 24 hours of each other.

The incidents, which are not thought to be linked, took place in Hemel Hempstead and Borehamwood on Thursday and Friday evening respectively.

The first stabbing happened at The Marlowes shopping centre in Hemel Hempstead on Thursday night (April 28).

Police were called at 9.28pm to reports that a man in his 20s had sustained stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital but his injuries were not deemed to be serious, Hertfordshire Constabulary said.

No arrests had been made as of Friday but police believe the suspect is known to the victim.

Just under 24 hours later, police on a housing estate in Borehamwood were approached by a 20-year-old man who had been stabbed in the stomach.

More police units, including armed officers, subsequently rushed to the Aycliffe Road area of the town at around 8.10pm (April 29).

The man was taken to hospital. Police have not given any details yet on his condition.

However, the force has confirmed that a 20-year-old man from Islington in north London has been arrested on suspicion of GBH.

Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses about both incidents.
