Mayfield Watford is one of a number of schemes under construction on land near Watford General Hospital and Vicarage Road stadium.

Once complete, Mayfield will include 255 one and two-bed apartments with access to communal gardens, a swimming pool, gym, and cafe-bistro.

Retirement village provider the Audley Group says Mayfield Watford, being built off Thomas Sawyer Way, has proven to be “incredibly popular”, with the most properties sold prior to opening of any of its schemes.

The complex, which is part of the wider Watford Riverwell regeneration project, is due to open later this year.

Elsewhere, housebuilder Bellway has announced it is welcoming its first residents into their new homes at Waterside, which is part of Riverwell.

Situated along the banks of the River Colne, Waterside features 143 flats, a gym for residents, and a rooftop terrace.

Greg Allsop, sales and marketing director at Bellway London, said:

“Demand for the apartments has been high, partly due to their enviable location close to the green spaces of Riverside Park and Oxhey Park, but also because they are such an attractive option for first-time buyers.

“Many of the apartments are available to buy through the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme, enabling buyers to purchase with a smaller deposit and mortgage.”

Riverwell, which is a joint project between Watford Borough Council and Kier Property, involves the development of 70 acres in total.

The scheme will deliver around 1,000 homes altogether, along with a primary school, community centre, commercial space and workspaces.
