A formerly 'inadequate' baby unit has now been rated as 'requires improvement' following its latest Ofsted inspection.

The Hall School Baby Unit, based in Rickmansworth Road in Northwood, was caring for 22 children aged up to two years old at the time.

The initial report on November 15 described education quality as "poor" and said risk assessments were not conducted.

Following the May 10 reassessment, a report published this month said despite some positive changes the unit still requires improvement.

Inspectors wrote: “Although children take part in a broad range of activities, these are not always planned as well as possible to reflect their individual learning needs.

“Despite this, children enjoy their time at the setting and benefit from mostly warm, caring interactions from staff.

“Since the last inspection, the manager has focused support and training.”

Children were “confident and eager” to engage with staff but there were still “inconsistencies in teaching”.

The Hall School Baby Unit was approached for comment.
