A hospice care unit that shut due to a lack of staff will reopen following a successful recruitment drive.
Peace Hospice Care said it made the “difficult decision” to shut its inpatient unit in Watford in February because staffing levels were too low for the unit to operate safely.
The hospice, which looks after adults diagnosed with life-limiting illnesses, cited a shortage of qualified nurses in the UK.

The unit, which admits patients for a short while before they return home, will reopen on Monday.
Peace Hospice Care’s director of patient services Caroline Allen and medical director Dr Sarah Klinger said: “Following a successful recruitment campaign, we are delighted to announce that we will be reopening our inpatient unit on Monday, June 27.
“We would like to thank all our partners for their support during the time we have been closed.
“We look forward to receiving inpatients from Monday.”
The recently refurbished unit offers a mixture of rooms with en-suite bathroom facilities. There is also a lounge and kitchen area for patients and families.
