A charity that supports rough sleepers, the homeless, and the vulnerable has launched a campaign to distribute 1,000 packs to those in need this summer.

The project by Watford-based Hand on Heart is aimed to mitigate the effects of the cost of living crisis.

The packs, which will be given across 13 locations in the UK, will contain 14 staple items each to help during the summer months, including a drawstring bag, polo shirts, t-shirts, socks, underwear, deodorant, shower gel, wet wipes, oral hygiene kit, first aid plasters, suncream, baseball caps and water.

Watford Observer:

Hand on Heart says this will restore a sense of "dignity, hope and joy" for those who find themselves struggling at this time.

The charity will be collaborating with 11 organisations and working in cities such as London, Birmingham, and Bristol.

More than 200 volunteers will be involved across the campaign including children from Hujjat, Elsley, and Al Sadiq primary schools in north west London.

Harrow Scouts will also be involved along with care home residents.

Hand on Heart’s co-founder Afzal Pradhan said: “With the cost of living ever increasing, we are seeing a 20-30% rise in the number of guests (homeless) queuing up at our outreach drives.

"Alarmingly, we are also seeing a growing number of families with children. Hand on Heart is not only supporting our guests but also providing a platform for over 200 volunteers to make an impactful change in their community.

"For £17 you can provide a life changing kit to those bearing the worst effects of the cost of living crisis. Visit www.handonhearttrust.com to donate and find out more about our work.”
