Video footage has emerged of firefighters tackling a 100 square metre grass fire.

The fire service attended South Way in Abbots Langley, where firefighters found grass well alight yesterday at around 4pm.

A video taken by passer-by Andrew Lachlan shows the land lit up in flames with a crackling sound.

Crews from Watford, Garston and Rickmansworth brought it under control with hoses and beaters by 4.45pm.

The fire service says it believes the fire was started accidentally but a spokesperson did not say what it believed caused it.

“Please don’t use disposable barbecues in your gardens, parks, and green spaces."
