Police are “monitoring” a church safeguarding investigation but have not received any criminal allegations.

Soul Survivor Watford has confirmed concerns relating to its co-leader Rev Canon Mike Pilavachi include “more recent allegations” that came to light since a Church of England probe began earlier this year.

Soul Survivor emphasised, in its initial statement on April 2, that Mr Pilavachi is not under criminal investigation and Hertfordshire Constabulary has confirmed it is still not looking into it.

A police spokesperson said: “We are aware of the national church safeguarding investigation and monitoring the situation.

“Should anyone make a criminal allegation this would be investigated accordingly.”

The investigation is being conducted independently from Soul Survivor Watford and it is unclear when it will conclude.

The force added that information about crime can be reported online or by calling 101.

Mr Pilavachi set up the Soul Survivor Christian youth festival and the Anglican church Soul Survivor Watford, in Greycaine Road.

Soul Survivor has said it was informed of the more recent allegations on April 28 and added “whilst it does not appear these recent allegations include physical contact they are no less significant because of that”.
