A teenager said he will never forget his “eccentric expressions and feelings” when he flew with the Royal Air Force.

Armaan Samnani, 14, who attends Bushey Meads School in Coldharbour Lane, took to the skies on May 18 at RAF Whittering.

The year 9 pupil, who has been training as a cadet with the Bushey and Oxhey Squadron for 18 months, could not believe the experience he had.

He said: “I have been an eye gazing individual to the study of aviation and to the engineering of aircrafts.

“An opportunity to this incredible occurrence had made me very excited and anticipating for the day.

“Once I was there, the moment I glimmered upon the sleek plane on the taxiway I was eager to go on.”

Armaan, who trains as a cadet every Monday and Thursday evening, described how he was kitted out in a flying suit and went through parachute drills before he entered the plane.

Once he was in the small propeller plane it “shook and roared” on the runway and in the air.

“Flips and loops were carried out and I was in full control of the aircraft,” he said.

He added: “I swerved from pitching up and down and going left and right. The pitch downwards was like a drop in a roller coaster.

“The eccentric expressions and feelings in my stomach was a memory which will never leave me.”

Armaan’s parents Sheetal and Riyaz Samnani said they couldn’t be prouder of his accomplishments and the “invaluable lessons he has learned through this incredible journey”.

His parents believe that his twice-weekly 2.5-hour training sessions have instilled in him “a sense of resilience, discipline, and toughness – qualities that will undoubtedly shape his future endeavours”.

Mrs Semnani said: “I would like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the RAF for providing young children like Armaan with the chance to explore their potential and learn invaluable life lessons.

“By opening doors and fostering such experiences, the RAF plays a pivotal role in shaping the minds of our future generations.”
