A taxi driver has been left fuming after his car was broken into for the second time.

Faisal Rehman’s Toyota Prius window was smashed in Durban Road West, Watford, and £200 was taken during the break-in at 6am on Monday, June 5.

Mr Rehman, 30, told the Watford Observer it has happened to lots of cabbies but he believes they don't report it as they think police will fail to act.

The 30-year-old was at home when he heard his car alarm and checked from his window to see what was happening.

He said: “When I came out the man was running away. I couldn’t see him.

“My car has been broken into before and I couldn’t believe it has happened again.

“It was really hard to see, then I phoned the police.”

He was unable to work for the day as he looked for a place to replace the front passenger window. He eventually had to shell out £220 to get it fixed.

The father-of-three added: “I had not worked last week because it was half term, and I was looking after the children.

“I planned to work extra yesterday to make up some money, but then I couldn’t.”

He continued: “But I want to raise the issue. This happens to lots of taxi drivers, and they don’t come forward because they do not think the police will do anything.

“But I am really fed up.”

Mr Rehman said all the money was hidden and he had taken the taxi sticker off his car as he knows it can be a target for thieves.

Herts Police confirmed they were contacted following a theft.

They said if anyone has any information to contact them via 101 quoting the crime reference number 41/44884/23.

A spokesperson added that all valuables should be removed from vehicles when leaving them unattended.

They added: “Even items such as sunglasses and loose change can be enough to encourage an opportunist thief to break in.
