A motorist in his 80s careered through a High Street shop front leaving his car a crumped wreck.
The crash “sounded like a bomb going off”, according to a passer-by, as the front of Rickmansworth suit tailoring business Rocha was destroyed just before 4.50pm on Friday, July 26.
Herts Police, the East of England Ambulance Service, and Herts Fire and Rescue were called to the road. The force have confirmed that the silver Volvo DS was the only vehicle involved.

“It is understood that the car drove into a shop front,” a police spokesperson said, in a statement this morning.
“The driver, a man in his 80s remained at the scene and did not require any medical treatment.”
A video taken at the scene shows the front of the Volvo had crumpled, and the airbag had deployed, while a wooden beam had gone through the front window.
Rocha has confirmed that it was able to get same-day emergency glass repair carried out. The shop was back open the next day.
It is now waiting for insurance to come through.
