Residents questioned why pavement in Bushey needed to be dug up again just weeks after it was newly resurfaced.
Photos shared online show mounds of rumble removed from a large hole in Great Grove, off Bournehall Avenue, while UK Powers carries emergency repairs to a high-voltage cable from August 29 until tomorrow (September 5).
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire County Council confirmed that the works came just weeks after the highways team completely resurfaced the pavements between July 18 and August.

“While it is unfortunate that the pavement has had to be dug up so soon after being resurfaced, the UKPN works are an emergency repair and need to be done," they said.
“We would always coordinate planned works to avoid this sort of situation but obviously we can’t coordinate unexpected emergency works in that way.”
One Bushey resident branded the situation “madness”, while another called it a “ridiculous miscommunication and waste of resources”.
