RADICAL changes in parking restrictions may soon take place in Bushey.
A major consultation with Bushey residents will soon be carried out to determine their views on proposed changes in parking.
Speaking at a Bushey Forum, Hertsmere Borough councillor for Bushey Park Lynne Hodgson, said Bushey was currently the only area in Hertsmere without car park charging.
She said: "It's not a commuter area. Other areas have the problem of people parking in residents' streets and catching the train into work."
The proposed changes come as a result of the de-criminalisation of parking. Police in Bushey have now ceased to have responsibility for enforcing parking restrictions.
Ms Hodgson said: "If the borough is to take over the policing of these things it has to be self-financing.
"The rest of the borough is saying why should we subsidise Bushey when they have no charging income from car parks.
"It's possible that the ruling power in Hertsmere will suggest that we have car parking charges."
