Health bosses say they can no longer release detailed information about outbreaks of swine flu in the county's schools because of the ever-increasing volume of cases.

The Observer has been keeping readers up to date with the number of suspected and confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus among pupils at schools in Watford.

But Rose Child, spokeswoman for West Herts PCT, said it is no longer possible to keep the public informed of swine flu victims in Hertfordshire's schools.

She said: "There's so many cases we are no longer getting details of how many numbers in schools.

"We are not able to contain it - it's widespread.

"The national advice is not to close schools unless there's special circumstances.

"If a school does close parents will get the information."
