An employee of a Rickmansworth business went on a summer holiday with a difference this year.

Catherine Hobday and her sisters, Chantal and Stephanie, joined other volunteers from the Glanfield Children’s Group for a week-long trip to Lourdes in Southern France.

A group of children with special needs enjoyed an adventurous holiday in France, including pony rides and picnics.

Ms Hobday works for DSH Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors in Rickmansworth.

Her parents and grandfather helped to found the Glanfield Group and she has been going to Lourdes with the charity since she was two.

She said: “The children have such a good time and everyone enjoys themselves, especially when we take them up into the Pyrenees mountains.

“This year we also also went bowling, swimming and pony riding. It's about giving them a chance to try things they wouldn't do at home.”

The Glanfield Group organises respite for young people who have a wide range of disabilities, or who are physically or emotionally deprived or neglected.

The aim of the group is to provide both a holiday for the children and a much-needed rest for their parents who are welcome to either join the group or stay at home.
