Cars number plates in Radlett were fitted with special theft resistant screws on Monday.
A total of 78 vehicles took part in the PL8 SAF3 initiative in Newberries car park.
Valerie Kane, community safety officer, said: “24 percent of theft from vehicles in the year 2008/09 was of car number plates, hopefully this will be an end to it.”
Radlett Crime Reduction Group contributed £300 towards the screws.
