Green-fingered fundraisers from a school in Bushey spent Monday planting daffodils for a sponsored grow event.

Students at Queens’ School were taking part in Marie Curie's mini pots of care initiative, by planting the flowers in small pots to grow over the winter.

The pots will then be taken home or to someone they care about in return for a small donation to help fund the work of the charity.

Yvonne Kennedy, French teacher at Queens’ School, said: “The students have had fun learning how to plant their own bulbs and using the activity to enhance their French in the classroom.”

The scheme has involved 1,051,600 children since it was first launched in 2005 and has helped to raise £1,740,280 million for the charity to date.

More than 350,000 children from schools and groups across the UK will be taking part in the campaign.
