MATT CAIRNS completed a dramatic return to Saracens this week just 12 months after departing Vicarage Road for Sale Sharks Cairns, a product of the Saracens Academy, put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Men in Black and becomes the latest player to join the exodus from Sale to Saracens.

Like Alex Sanderson and Iain Fullarton, the 24-year-old hooker is keen to continue working alongside Steve Diamond, Saracens' new rugby manager, who has helped develop the player into one of the leading hookers in the country.

"Matt has been with Saracens previously but he is very keen to come back to us and we are delighted to have him back," said Kafer. "He is right on the verge of the England set-up and, since working with Steve up at Sale, has become a very good set-piece hooker.

"He's had a very good season for Sale Sharks and is a very exciting prospect. He's another player to join us who has England A experience and he fits right in with our recruitment policy of looking to sign mainly English or UK based players for the new season."

The arrival of Cairns takes the number of hookers on the club's books to four and casts further doubt over the future of Robbie Russell, who has so far stalled on the offer of a new contract.
