BEN SKIRVING will go under the knife this weekend in a bid to cure a long-standing shoulder problem that will curtail his season prematurely.
The highly-rated number eight, who is poised to sign a new deal with the club this week, will miss the remaining two games of the season and will also be a doubt for the Under-21 Championships in Scotland in June where England have been drawn against the All Blacks, the current holders.
"I've been really impressed with his progress this season, but he's been carrying a little bit of problem with his shoulder all season which has prevented him from doing a lot of the training work that he really needs to do," explained head coach Rod Kafer.
"Hopefully the operation will clear that up and get him right for the start of next season."
