Aspiring actors in Abbots Langley will be able to learn more about the theatre from a series of workshops thanks to a Hertfordshire County councillor’s grant.

Councillor Paul Goggins, for Abbots Langley, has allocated £350 to the Abbots Langley Players from his locality budget.

Each county councillor has locality budgets worth £10,000, which they can hand out to worthy organisations in their wards.

The drama group, established in 1957, normally presents about three productions in the parish each year.

Hoping to share their experience, knowledge and love of theatre with people from the community, the company will host a number of workshops over summer andaAutumn.

Roger Gotts, players committee member, said: “We are very grateful for funding, it will enable the workshops to take place and will mean we can organise outside speakers to appear.

“We will look forward to welcoming new faces to the group.”

Councillor Goggins, delighted to offer his support, said: “The group are hoping to encourage more people to partake in theatre by holding the workshops.

“Participating in theatre is a great way for members of the community to socialise, meet new people and raise their confidence.”
