A Bushey school has received £1,000 from a Hertsmere Borough Councillor to enhance its recycling capabilities.

Bushey Meads School, in Coldharbour Lane, was the latest applicant to receive money from Councillor Pervez Choudhury as part of the Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme (WIIS).

The cash will enable it to buy new recycling equipment.

Councillor Choudhury said: “It's important to teach children about recycling from a young age so I was keen to approve the application.”

Other succesful applicants were North Bushey pensioners who received £375 from Councillor Steve O'Brien for a coach visit to the Houses of Parliament.

Councillor O'Brien also gave £930 for renovation work to the Walnut Estate in Pine Grove.

In Radlett, Councillor Dan Griffin donated £145 from his WIIS share toward works to the pathway at Rendlesham Avenue.
