A Hertfordshire County Councillor will be given a grant to spend on “worthy, social, economic or environmental causes” in the coming months.
Councillor Paul Goggins, Liberal Democrat representative, revealed at a meeting of the Abbots Langley Parish Council on Monday evening that he has been given another locality budget worth £10,000 which he can allocate to groups seeking financial assistance.
Councillor Goggins, whose ward is Abbots Langley, said: “My last locality budget worth £10,000 has been spent on a number of causes, including Bedmond Ajax Youth Football Club, theatre group the Abbots Langley Players and Bedmond Women’s Institute.
“I will be allocated another budget in the coming months and am hoping to hear from community groups who need funding.
“Although groups that have previously asked for finance will be welcome to ask for further money, I will give priority to those who have not asked before.”
Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, with funding to be used for worthy causes in Hertfordshire.
