THE Attimore Hall in Welwyn Garden City has closed for six weeks to undergo a £400,000 refurbishment programme.
The refurbishment is funded by owners Six Continents Retail who own brands such as O'Neils, All Bar and Harvester. The company has owned the pub for some years and is now converting the Attimore Hall in Ridgeway into an Ember Inn, one of a chain of over 125 pubs throughout the country. The new pub will provide employment for around 30 staff.
The development will bring wooden flooring, modern art, fireplaces and leather sofas and arm chairs to the pub.
When it opens in September, the new Ember Inn will offer a selection of wines and cask ales and will also serve food between 12 noon and 8pm.
