A ST ALBANS computer software company Watchmark came to the rescue when it helped build a boardwalk for disabled access through picturesque woodland in Box Moor this month (August).

An team of ten software engineers left their desks for the day to join the Countryside Management Service in a team building exercise south of Hemel Hempstead.

The task included constructing a boardwalk in Hay Wood. The team, based in Victoria Street, worked hard and braved the rain to extend the boardwalk by 12 metres.

Mr Phil Gray, Watchmark team leader, said: "For our team activity we wanted to do something that was not only enjoyable but also useful in the community.

"Helping improve disabled access by extending the boardwalk into Hay Wood for the Box Moor Trust has met both these objectives."

The Countryside Management Service would like to hear from offices who would like to work as a team to improve the countryside for wildlife and for people.

It has a range of projects and would be happy to lead volunteer events for groups between eight and 30 people throughout the year. For more information contact the Countryside Management Service on 01727 848168.
