FORMER Chelsea football club hardman Dennis Wise had his Radlett home burgled after a back window was smashed to gain entry.

The former England representative, who plays for Leicester City, had his house broken into while away on holiday.

Hertfordshire Constabulary were called by the football star's cleaner at 12.30pm on Thursday, June 13.

Police visited the crime scene to take fingerprints. They confirmed property had been reported stolen, but said they were waiting for a full property list from Mr Wise before they could give details of what was missing.

Newly appointed Hertsmere Mayor Councillor Stuart Nagler urged victims of crime to come forward to him before he took over his new office.

He took a survey of poorly lit areas in Radlett after a commuter was mugged after leaving the train station.

Councillor Nagler said he had not been contacted by Mr Wise. He said: "I feel sorry for anyone that suffers a crime whether it is from your car or from your house it is horrible as a victim."

Leader of the council Neil Payne said while the council worked with the police to reduce other types of crime with respect to domestic burglaries "there is not much we can do".

A Leicester City spokesman said Mr Wise was aware of the break-in but was holidaying in America and unavailable for comment.
